The tale of “Leili and Majnun” is a narrative by “Nami” related to Zand dynasty. Nami who was a diarist for Karim Khan Zand, in addition to “Leili and Majnun”, has also written epics such as “Ganj e Gohar”, “Khosrow and Sirin”, “Vamiq and Adhra”, as well as a prose style book named “Tarikhe e Giti Gosha”. Of course, “Yousof and Zoleikha” is also attributed to Nami but this paper tries to explore the accuracy and fallacy of this claim. The tale of “Leili and Majnun” by Nami is an adaptation of the same sentimental love story by Nizami. Among those who have written “Leili and Majnun”, it seems that Nami has been affected by “Maktabi” in addition to Nezami. This research study briefly reviews the life and works of Nami, and also analyzes the literary elements of his “Leili and Majnun” compared with a similar tale by Nizami. Besides, it is attempted in this article to explore the effects of other narrators of Leili and Majnun such as Maktabi, Jami, and Amir Khosrow on this narrative poem of Nami.
