Maqtals are historical narratives under historiography. As Ashura has had many social, religious and political implications ever since its happening, its historical narrative has also been reflected in humanities and social sciences, including literature. Simile is one of the main topics in rhetoric that provides the basis for this connection by reflecting thought and feeling in various literary works. Serr Al-Asrar fi Mosibat e-Abi Al-Aeimete Al-Athaar, as a remarkable contemporary maqtal, by Jalili Kermanshahi is less known in this regard that deserves more attention. The research questions include: what kinds of structures and objectives do the similes in the book serve? What is the role of the elements of simile in conveying the space and themes of the book and how have they reflected the author's worldview? The present study tries to investigate the relationship between similes and the themes of this book through a descriptive-analytical method. The authors first extract the structure, frequency and types of similes of the book and examine them to explain the connection of the similes with the author's themes and worldview. The findings show that most of the similes in the book serve to clarify and express the author's thoughts and feelings than suggesting aesthetic and rhetorical functions. Examining the types of similes, grounds of comparison and associated issues has a major role in explaining the space and theme of this historical narrative and introducing the author's thoughts and worldviews which are often reflected through epic, lyrical, doctrinal and mystical manifestations.
