Abstract

One of the important elements and components of a work is its title. The first contact of the audience with any work is its title and appearance. The title represents both the text and  the world of the text; for this reason, choosing a suitable and creative title for each story will attract the audience and read the work. The purpose of this research is to examine the titles of the rewritten stories of Kelileh and Demneh based on Gerard Geent's point of view. The rewritten stories by Mehdi Azaryazdi, Mohammad Hasan Shirazi and Davoud Lotfollah have been selected and analyzed for this research. The research method is descriptive-analytical and the method of collecting information is in the form of examining library sources. The results of the research showed that among the descriptive functions, choosing the title through the processing of names and characters has had a significant use among the titles of the investigated works, and the broad title is less used compared to other subsets of this function. The function of attractiveness was investigated in two areas of appearance and content, in which in the aspect of appearance, factors such as abbreviated words and rhetorical elements (identification, proverb, contrast, and simile) and in the field of content, techniques such as questioning are revealed. Being provocative, breaking norms and universality had been noticed by rewriters.
