Rhythm (metre) is one of the effective and important factors which facilitates the creation and influence of poetic structure. Poetry is basically a means to express and reflect the inner feeling of the poet, and rhythm is an instrument to convey this feeling and sentiment. The authors in this research article seek to investigate four parts of outer, lateral, inner, and spiritual rhythm in the poems of Badr al-Din Chachi and consequently answer to the following research questions: How is the state of outer and lateral rhythm in the odes of Badr al-Din Chachi? What are the elements of inner rhythm in his odes? How is the state of spiritual rhythm and figures of speech in his odes? The results of this research which is conducted through descriptive analysis reveal that rhythm or metre is one of the most significant elements in the poetry of Badr al-Din Chachi. Using common and recurrent rhythms, complex and heavy Radifs, scarce rhymes, pun, repetition and so on, he has paid special attention to rhythm in his poetry.

Morphology is a key issue in structuralist criticism which has had wide applications to narratives. In performing morphological analysis, the critic considers the internal structure of the narrative to discover its actions and functions. Morphology was first introduced by Vladimir Prop into the study of narrative literature. Basing his work on the actions of the characters in fairy tales, he concluded that all the tales are governed by the same rules and structure which can be demonstrated to be governing the tales of all peoples. The present paper deals with the structural analysis of Khâjou Kermâni’s Flower and Norouz (Gol va Norouz), one of the most successful lyric narratives of Persian literature. The conclusion drawn indicates that, although some of the functions are not consistent with Prop’s proposed sequence of functions, his proposed functions can be applied to this tale to a great extent.Key terms: morphology, literary criticism, Vladimir Prop, Flower and Norouz (Gol va Norouz), Khâjou Kermâni.

Shahnameh is undoubtedly one of the greatest and most influential epic works in the world. While being epic in nature, it also includes lyric, historical and love tales. The most interesting tale of Shahnameh, which is tinged with a love theme, is the tale of “Zal and Rudabeh”. Through a morphological approach, the present paper seeks to give an account of this tale and analyze its fictional elements such as characters, settings, contrasts, oppositions, narrative structure, and plot. Finally, the methodology developed here will be briefly compared with Vladimir Propp’s morphological methodology.
